Do pitevny NCIS vnikne neznámý vetřelec a vezme si za rukojmí patologa i s jeho asistentem. Později se mu díky Katyině neopatrnosti podaří získat jako rukojmí i jí. Gibbs sice zjistí, co se v pitevně děje i jaký je důvod nezvané návštěvy, není však schopen útočníka zneškodnit. Díky malé lsti útočník unikne.

A dead terrorist is brought back to NCIS headquarters to be autopsied. Gerald opens a body bag to another body claiming to be a foreign sailor he is presented with an armed man who then takes Gerald and Ducky hostage in Autopsy. The terrorist (we do not know his name yet) demands all the evidence from the dead terrorist to be brought to Autopsy so that he can get away with it. Ducky phones Abby and asks her to bring it down. Abby has a new-found phobia of Autopsy so she is unable to go down and as Gibbs or Tony are not in the squad room she asks Kate to go. Kate goes and pretends to be Abby, but the terrorist is not fooled, noticing that Kate is carrying a gun, which a forensic technician wouldn't be, and takes Kate hostage as well.Also, because Ducky lied, the terrorist shoots Gerald in the shoulder. Gibbs is now made aware of the situation as Kate did not come back and the security video in Autopsy is not working. They put a small camera down into Autopsy and get a picture of the terrorist before the terrorist shoots the camera. The hostage rescue team appears and tries to bargain with the terrorist for the hostages. The terrorist asks Gibbs to come down and to bring some other evidence with him, he also asks Gibbs to come unarmed. Gibbs comes and places the box down, the terrorist gives him Kate's gun and they shoot at each other. The terrorist hits Gibbs in the shoulder and it is a through and through. Smoke canisters go off and the hostage rescue team gets in and there is a lot of confusion. When the smoke has cleared Gibbs walks over to the body lying on the floor, supposedly the terrorist he shot. He turns the body over and it turns out to be the dead terrorist and the live one has got away.


The doors to autopsy open and Ducky asks Gerald “He's not a American naval officer?” and Gerald replies “they said he was a royal navy commander.” Ducky inquires as to whom, and Gerald did not know, assumed British, and Ducky goes on to name several countries with Royal navies. Gerald explains that the embassy told NCIS to bring him to autopsy. Ducky asks which embassy and Gerald tells him Israeli. They are both curious about Israeli sending them the body. Gerald wheels out the body and opens the bag on Ducky's command, and stands there shocked. Ducky walks over and is too shocked to see a gun pointing at them and the body very much alive.
TITLE SEQUENCE
The person tells Gerald to shut off the lights, and then shoots out the video camera. The man with a very thick Israeli accent asks how they alert people when they are conducting an infectious autopsy, and Ducky remarks that they hang a decomposing body in the corridor. The man then goes on to explain that when he asks a question he wants the truthful and immediate answer or else he will put a 9mm hollow point slug (bullet) in one of Gerald's ball and socket joints. Ducky rather the slug be in him, but the man doesn't agree. Ducky then tells him the real way they put alert people, a lit red sign in the corridor, the man instructs Gerald to do so, and to lock the doors bring him greens and breathing gear. Ducky asks what he wants, and the man says in due time.

Cut to the Evidence Garage
Tony asks Kate if she had ever had a nightmare, she replies no. They continue on nightmares and Tony reveals that he had a recurring one as a child about vampires, and one being in the canopy of his bed. Kate asks if he still fears vampires, and hints that it had to be a female; he tells her that it was after his blood not the pride of his childhood. She is shocked to know that he was proud of it at the age of 5. We also learn that his mother told him bedtime stories and had kept candles in his Louis XV bedroom to enhance the effect of the trompe-l'oeil (trick-the-eye) murals on his walls. Kate remarks that the candles, trompe-l'oeil, and the canopy bed makes for his bete noire to be a vampire.
Gibbs enters the conversation wondering what Tony is telling Kate to forget, and then comments how he does crosswords and that is how he knows what Bete Noire means, then asks if his father taught him how to report, and Tony goes off on his childhood, overlooking Gibbs true intent. Then realizes it and tells him what they found in Kasam's room. They found Koran, prayer rug, fast food wrappers, Aspirin, sinus spray and breath freshener, no brush or toothpaste, and no computer. Found minute traces of nitrate.
Gibbs explain that Gitmo said that Kasam was to execute a attack on the naval base at Norfolk.

He worked at a fast food place, Kate looks for Cyber cafes. Gibbs is mad he didn't think of that and Tony calls him more smurf than Alpha Geek, and then it dawns on him that he still uses a notebook and a pencil instead of a PDQ, and Tony corrects him that it is a PDA, and that he could teach Gibbs to use it, and Gibbs gets angrier and that McGee teaches Tony and Tony teaches him and that it is backwards. Gibbs leaves on a coffee run and Kate wonders what his deal is, and Tony says that, that is Gibbs Bete Noire.

Cut to Autopsy- where a body is being taken out and put onto a table.
The man sees the bullet wounds and says that they hit the Right Ventricle and the Left Atria, and that Ducky didn't do an autopsy, Ducky explains that it was late and he was to do the autopsy that day. The man asks if he drew blood, and Ducky replies yes, he then asks if it is kept in there, and Ducky says no. The man asks if he sent it with Kasam's clothes to forensics, Ducky says yes. Ducky asks the man if he is a pathologist, the man ignores and asks where the lab is. Gerald answers that it is one floor up directly above us. Ducky tells him that there is a stairwell outside that he could use. The man asks about the elevator, and Ducky thought that the guy would think that is too risky, and then the man asks if it was an emergency elevator, ducky says that would be alarmed, so the man asks if there is a camera, and Ducky paused and replied yes. The man got angry and pulled out his gun and pointed it to Gerald's shoulder and Ducky explains that he answered promptly and didn't lie. The man adds the rule that they are not allowed to try to trick him either.

Cut to a little box and a caf-pow being set down on a table. Abby hits the play button, and her screen shows Android Lust playing. The phone rings in her office, he answers commenting that Ducky is in early, a very agitated Ducky tells her to turn her music off, and asks for the evidence back, and she tells him that she hasn't done anything with it yet, Ducky persists and says that he just needs it all back, and essentially yells at her for it. Ducky says he needs it for a theory, and then Abby goes on about her Bete Noire how she can't go down to autopsy, her nightmare is her lying on a autopsy table with her all opened up. Ducky tells her that they opened a infectious body and she could just leave it at the door or get Gibbs to do it. The man doesn't believe that conversation and asks, and questions Gerald about it. HE thinks that a code word could set it off, but Ducky reassures him that they aren't agents. The man reveals that he fears butterflies.
The man then asks who Gibbs is. Ducky says that Gibbs is the only other person that Abby told about her nightmare and the man asks if he is an agent, and Ducky says yes, and then tells him he just wants to get the man what he wants so he can leave.

cut to Abby's lab
Abby takes a sip of caf-pow, gathers all the evidence and heads to the elevator. Her fear kicks back in and can't push the down button, so goes up to the squad room.
The man asks if Gerald had been working with Ducky long, and Ducky starts talking about his youth, then the Man and Ducky start talking about the Battle of Waterloo. The man then again inquires about Abby and her fear of autopsy. Gerald then goes on to say, that he didn't understand since she sleeps in a coffin, it's the kind of kinky thing Abby would do.
Cut to squad room.
Kate is the only person at her desk. She asks where Gibbs and Tony are, but they are both in unreachable places, so she tells Kate about the evidence and her nightmare. Kate volunteers to take everything down, and then reasons out that Kasam is the only body down there and he couldn't be known to be infectious without the blood test, Kate calls down and Ducky pretends she is Abby and that she convinced herself that she could overcome her fear.
Gibbs and the Director were talking in the elevator on the way to MTAC, talk to 2 agents via video feed about Kasam.

Cut to squad room
Abby is pacing back and forth trying to figure out how to overcome her fear. Gibbs goes over and asks what is wrong, Gibbs asks about Kasam's clothes and Abby told him how Ducky wanted everything back. Gibbs gut goes into gear and tries to figure out the medical emergency that had Ducky tell Abby he wanted everything STAT.
Cut to elevator outside autopsy.
Kate knocks on the autopsy door, and Ducky tells her to leave it there, and Kate wants him to sign, and Ducky says that he can't open the door, Kate says how she beat her phobia, and Ducky calls her Abby.
The man sees her gun and confronts her.
Cut to squad room
Gibbs goes into hostage situation mode, and gets the team together. Calls the director tells him the situation, places 4 agents around autopsy, gets the floor plan, and asks abby to move her gaschromatagraph, so they can get a flex-cam down into autopsy, since the man blew the camera out. Tony and Gibbs go to the basement stairwell
cut to autopsy.
The man has Kate on a table and pats her down, and finds out that she is really Kaitlin Todd, not Abby.
He then asks about Kasam, and she stays silent refusing to answer him. Ducky says that it wasn't her, it was Gibbs. The man is going through the evidence, and finds the blood. The man asks if it is all the evidence, Ducky and Gerald say yes. The man asks Kate if they searched Kasam's room, and Kate still says silent. Then Ducky explains the rules on the man's request.
When they got to the trick rule, the man says how they did try tricking him, when Kate came down by her pretending to be Abby, and Ducky calling her Abby. So the man shoots Gerald's left shoulder.
Cut to Gibbs running down basement stairwell
They open the door and see the No Entry infectious warning sign, and that autopsy is dark.
Show Pacci in garage and him and his partner checked out the ambulance and Balboa and his partner, Gibbs told them to disable the bell and go down to autopsy and not open the doors.
Gibbs says he going up to MTAC, and Tony asks if they have a hostage situation, Gibbs says time to make a phone call, and leaves.

Cut to Ducky putting Gerald on the table, to help with his gun shot wound.
The man threatens Kaitlin that he would regret having to put a bullet in Gerald's knee, since she keeps insulting him. Tony sees Kate run past the door, and run back.
Gibbs in in MTAC and explains who is in autopsy, other than dirtbags. The director calls autopsy, and the man tells him to answer. The man then tells Kate where to put the morphine for Gerald – correctly. Ducky answers, Gibbs asks what is up with the sign Ducky tells Gibbs they opened an infectious body, and Gibbs then asks if Kate is down there, and Ducky says no, on instruction of the man, then Gibbs tells Ducky to let him know when he can come down because he is curious now. The entire conversation is done to sound very casual.
Ducky tells the man that he can't wait to weigh his liver, for making him lie to Gibbs.
Tony sees the man, and describes the man. The director tells him that the FBI hostage team will be there shortly, and they need an eye in autopsy, and Gibbs runs out going to get that eye.
Cut to Gerald being lifted to a seated position by Ducky and Kate
Kate says that the bleeding stopped so its good, and the man says 'yes and no, correct Doctor Mallard?”, and Ducky explains how he clamped the artery, the man then explains that Gerald will lose his arm unless the artery is repaired soon. Kate asks why Ducky can't do it, and Ducky explains it's an autopsy room not an ER. The man then asks, again, where the evidence from Kasam's room is, Kate tells him its in the evidence garage one floor up. He asks if it is the way he came in, Ducky tells him its upstairs next to forensics.
Cut to Gibbs in Abby's lab
Getting a flex-cam into autopsy, they see that there is only one intruder, the man sees their camera and shoots it out.
Cut to the man in autopsy. He takes off his greens and is dressed in all black. He tells Ducky and Kate to put Kasam in the body bag, and alarm goes off, and he asks them to do it “now, please”
The man says how that soon they(NCIS/FBI teams) soon call to negotiate their release Kate tells them that they don't negotiate with terrorists, and the man tells her, seductively, that once they get to know each other she won't call him a terrorist.

Cut to squad room
The building is being evacuated and the FBI hostage team is brought in, and briefed. Gibbs explains that he is in charge he doesn't want anything to happen to them
Cut to MTAC
Nobody recognizes the man. They make a connection to Hamas, and Gibbs tells them that the man wants Kasam's body and blood, to hide that they had an infectious man working on base.
Cut to evidence garage
Abby telling Gibbs and Tony all the diseases he could have had. They go to get the evidence from the room.
Gibbs goes through everything to find what the virus was, and they go to find duplicates to give the man. Abby uses her PDA and immediately tells them the location of the nearest tea shop, then takes the originals for testing for the virus.
Cut to MTAC , and them negotiating with the man. The man knows the director's name, and he demands the evidence that Tony and Gibbs were getting duplicates of.
Cut to autopsy.
Kate picks up a dissecting tool and attempts to stab the man. But confronts him about it, then attempts, and he grabs her, and basically tells her it was a test.
Cut to Abby video-ing into MTAC that she found the virus.
The man calls MTAC, and tells Gibbs to come down alone with all the evidence from Kasam's room.
Cut to squad room with Tony running in saying that he got everything Gibbs enters the elevator to go down
He arrives and enter autopsy, it's pitch black. The man comments that Gibbs looks older than he expected. He tells him to put the stuff down, and walk to the door with his hands on his head.
Gibbs pulls out the nasal spray, and then opens the evidence bag and uses it, he tells the man that the real stuff is on its way to CDC
The man asks Gibbs how far away from Kasam he was when he shot him. Gibbs tells him 37' and a few inches. The man remarks how he is a very good shot. Gibbs says he would like to demonstrate. And the man then says that Kate said she wanted to shoot him too. The man offers Gibbs a chance to demonstrate and gives him the clip to Kate's gun. Gibbs takes the gun, and puts the clip in, and then asks the man why, and shoots him, Gibbs get shot and a smoke bomb goes off, as the hostage team runs in. They search for the man, leaving Gibbs on the ground.
fade out
fade in to Tony waking up Gibbs, Gibbs asks if he got the guy, and Tony says yes. They look at the man on the floor, and Gibbs turns him over and says that it is not the man.
Cut to squad room.
Tony discussing what happened to Kate, and mentions how Gibbs said that he thought that he was wearing a bullet proof vest, Kate says how when she tried to stab him she felt the vest.
Tony asks if she fell for the man, and her facial expression hints at it.
Cut to Ducky leaving autopsy, with Abby lying on the table; she smiles and closes her eyes.
Cut to a Gibbs' basement
He is sitting there with a sling on his left arm, and gun in his hand, and he turns and fires twice, and shoots a picture of the man in the head, dead center.
